April is the principal check over those accounts. Dither I or

the Assistant Harbour Master personally compared daily the counter-

foils with the Shroff's book and this I regarded as a subsidiary

check on Mr. Chan Puž,

CROSS-EXALI ED by ''R. LE TESTEY.

I gave you no instructions about making entries in a

Cash book.

I knew you had no Cash book except t'at kept by the

Shroffs,

You could not personally enter the entries in a Cash

book, therefore. Tere is a collection book (Other fees) kept

by the Shroff upstairs in which are entered fees from 17 books

or more at the time he receives the money.

It could have been similarly done below but I have

already given my reasons why it was not.

There would not be the same confusion upstairs as below

because the items are fewer in number upstairs.
